"All I wanna do is co/parent nothing else," offered Tyrese. "Please…. Stick and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt…… I’ve only prayed that your heart heals and we live our lives separately and peacefully on behalf of our daughter……There’s someone out here for everybody – Norma I know you can see this, I’m sorry I got re-married, I’m sorry we didn’t work out I’m sorry you haven’t been able to find another man since we separated…… Sometimes you get married and have kids and things just don’t work out, but I have NEVER wished harm on you."
According to People, Tyrese's ex-wife has accused him of abusing their daughter, Shayla, who's 10 years old. It was this outburst that led to the filing of the restraining order, which specifies that the Fast & Furious actor is to stay 100 yards away from both ladies, including Norma’s home, with a hearing scheduled for October 2nd. Tyrese was barred from having visitation rights until that date.

As per the account in the court documents, Norma claims that her ex-husband abused their daughter on August 19th, alleging that he "pushed our daughter to the ground, pinned her face down, put his knees on her back, grabbed her hands with one arm and beat her with the other." She goes on to specify that he struck Shayla "between 12 and 16 times," an experience that supposedly hurt their daughter so bad she was unable to sit afterwards. Norma also disclosed that he was known to "beat on the people he is in conflict with," adding that he had hit her "a number of times in the past including when I was pregnant with our daughter." There has been no public comments issued by Tyrese's representatives.
